Learn More! Our 2019/2020 Impact This past year was a time marked with numerous changes, at and beyond. At , it began with the transition of new leadership; globally, it culminated with the wide-reaching impact of COVID-19 and the continued, rising voice of social justice movements. Check out our highlights from this year: 15 Chapters currently serves youth and adults in 15 volunteer-led chapters throughout the United States. Our list of active chapters reflects the ever-changing ebb and flow of local programs based on the availability and networks of our passionate, hard-working volunteers. 473 Volunteers Volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization. Inspired by ’s mission, our volunteers are vital to executing free and low-cost programming serving thousands of youth and adults of all genders across the nation. 155 Events We ran 155 events and workshops for youth and adults, aimed at building confidence, increasing interest in tech, and creating a supportive and empowering community. With the onset of COVID-19 in the spring of 2020, we began offering programming online through our Virtual High School programming and ACT-W webinars and events. 8,418 Hours of Learning Our students spent a whopping 8,418 hours participating in fun, hands-on, inspiring events. From 3D printing to website design; from the technology of oceanography to robotics, each workshop empowered its participants to create the future of tech. 1,622 Participants We’re building a national community that brings together thousands of youth and adults of all genders annually through our events and workshops. By connecting and supporting each other, we all have more strength to push change in our own lives and in the technology community. $859,494 Raised Through generous donations and sponsorships from corporations and individuals, we raised over $800,000. This allowed us to strengthen our programs, increase the number of students and adults served across the country, and continue changing the culture of technology for the better. Stats and figures from recent 2019/2020 fiscal year annual report ( view here ). What We Do A crucial aspect of all our programs is finding women who would not otherwise have thought of themselves as capable of succeeding in a high tech career. Many women do not reach their potential in STEM because they thought it was too difficult—or did not have role models in the field. By increasing our participants’ self-confidence and interest in technology, we increase the number of women and girls who aspire to technology careers, shaping the workforce of today AND tomorrow to have the diverse skills and perspectives needed for the industry to thrive. For Students believes that providing access to technology careers for girls and young women is critical, both to the industry and to their lives. We provide learning opportunities and a supportive community to female-identifying students in order to broaden participation in tech and provide equitable opportunities for all. Learn More!
